Joey Mercury opens up about substance abuse while shutting down Twitter troll

Sometimes the best way to shut someone down is to address the issue they’re trying to expose with candidness and maturity. This is exactly what Joey Mercury recently did and we have to applaud him for this tactic.

Mercury is now accepting one-on-one coaching sessions for people who want him to watch their matches and give them advice. All he was trying to do is let people know about this new service he was providing when one person had to try and be a troll.

But Mercury replied in expert fashion when he saw a response asking, “if you’re that good why did WWE get rid of you?”

The 3-time WWE Tag Team Champion replied saying, “Oh, that’s because I had a substance abuse problem and mental health issues. They did, to their eternal credit, get me the help I so desperately needed. Best company in the world. Thanks for asking, you impossibly compassionate soul, you!”

It was not only a very appropriate response to that kind of question, but it left little to be misinterpreted in the situation as well. Kudos to Mercury for handling this like he did with a very clever openness.
