Update on Bobby Lashley’s WWE return, post-WrestleMania plans

WWE’s roster is getting an influx of former Impact Wrestling talent within the next few months.

As Dave Meltzer broke over the weekend, Bobby Lashley is expected to go to WWE soon. As of 2/1/18, he is free and clear to sign with anyone. There were talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling but they could not reach a deal.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that Lashley is “expected in any time now.” Lashley has said in interviews that he’s wanted to work a match with Brock Lesnar and it looks like he might be getting his wish because the belief is that he will be in a feud with Lesnar after WrestleMania. Of course, that all depends on if Lesnar wants to sign a new deal or if he has unfinished business in UFC. Lesnar is happy in WWE so one would think that he would want to sign a new deal. Meltzer noted that those close to the situation have said that Lesnar vs. Lashley after Mania is not 100 percent.

Lashley, 41, left WWE in 2008 because of issues between Michael Hayes and Lashley’s then-girlfriend Kristal Marshall. There were reports at the time that Lashley was unhappy about several things including his WrestleMania payoff from the Battle of the Billionaires match at WrestleMania. He was also said to be unhappy with the travel schedule.
