John Cena’s movie commitments in August won’t impact his WWE SummerSlam plans

John Cena will star in a new movie titled, “Argylle,” which starts filming in Europe this August with the release date being sometime next year.

For the last few months, it’s been reported that WWE was planning to have the future Hall of Famer work the main event of SummerSlam against Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

With SummerSlam and the production of the movie slated to take place in the same month, there’s been speculation as to how this would impact Cena’s WWE plans.

Dave Meltzer noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio episode that Cena vs. Reigns is happening at SummerSlam.

“The movie thing is not a hurdle. This is what I was told today. The movie thing’s not a hurdle, and whatever it is, I don’t know exactly what it is, but the belief is it’s all going down. So, the match is happening.”

There’s still no word yet on exactly when Cena will make his return to WWE TV to start building to the match.
