Another former WWE Superstar might be on his way to Global Force Wrestling. If you look on Karen Jarrett’s Twitter account, it seems like the rumors about talks between Global Force Wrestling and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio are true. The story, first reported on Monday by Justin Barrasso of SI.com, is that Mysterio has been in talks with WWE and GFW. We are told that Mysterio is close to signing with GFW and he was in Nashville meeting with GFW management. In fact, he was spotted with Konnan and R-Truth on Monday night (click here to see the photos) in Nashville.
I would be interested to see if this opens the door for his 20-year-old son Dominic to get started in the wrestling business. Dominic started training to wrestle back in January at Finest City Wrestling in San Diego and the word from his early training sessions was that he was pretty good for a novice.
If you were watching WWE in 2005 then you might remember that Dominic was part of a storyline where Eddie Guerrero was revealed to be his real biological father. That led to a SummerSlam ladder match between Mysterio and Guerrero with the winner getting custody of Dominic.
If GFW is able to get Mysterio then it would be a huge boost for their brand. The outside-of-the-ring issues with Alberto El Patron could put his future with the company in jeopardy and by bringing in a name like Mysterio will help improve the negative perception that some have of the company.
