Adam Pearce has announced two new matches and additional segments for Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.
Pearce confirmed that Je’Von Evans will team with Intercontinental Champion Penta to face Rusev and Ethan Page in tag team action. Page made his main roster debut on Raw earlier this month following his call-up from NXT, where he had held both the NXT Championship and the North American Championship during his developmental run.
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh will also meet in singles competition for the second time in recent weeks, continuing a rivalry that has personal roots going back to Balor’s wrestling school in Ireland. Balor scored a victory over McDonagh on the Raw after WrestleMania 42 before being attacked from behind by Dominik Mysterio following the match.
Pearce also announced plans to sit Asuka and IYO SKY down ahead of their scheduled match at WWE Backlash on May 9 in Tampa, Florida, with the aim of having the two women lay everything on the line before their match. The program between Asuka and SKY has been building for months and lost a thread with the release of Kairi Sane, who was positioned between the two before being let go in the post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts.
The show will also feature two contract signings. Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu will put pen to paper on their Backlash World Heavyweight Championship match. Sol Ruca will also officially sign her Raw contract, formalizing her move to the brand following her call-up from NXT. Oba Femi rounds out the announced lineup with an open challenge, giving the man who defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 another opportunity to make a statement.
The full announced lineup for Monday’s Raw on May 5 is as follows:
- Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu sign their Backlash contract
- Sol Ruca signs her Raw contract
- Oba Femi open challenge
- Je’Von Evans and Penta vs. Rusev and Ethan Page
- Finn Balor vs. JD McDonagh
- Asuka and IYO SKY to appear
