Paige Shares Emotional Video Of The Moment She Found Out She Was Cleared To Return To WWE

Paige has shared the moment she found out she was medically cleared to return to WWE, and it is as emotional as you would expect.

The new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion posted a video on Instagram showing herself sobbing and struggling to control her emotions upon receiving the news that WWE had cleared her for in-ring competition. The footage captures a deeply personal milestone for someone who was told her wrestling career was over more than seven years ago.

“The day I found out I was cleared to come home to WWE. What an emotional journey. Thank you Gilbert Boyas for being there and capturing this moment. It was a long road but man it was worth it. Thank you everyone for the love since I returned, it means the absolute world to me,” Paige wrote.

The post drew an outpouring of positive responses from her WWE colleagues in the comments.

Paige was medically disqualified from WWE competition in January 2018 following a neck injury suffered during a December 2017 match, a devastating blow that came just weeks after she had returned from a previous neck surgery. WWE moved her into a non-physical role as SmackDown General Manager rather than allow her to continue competing given the risk to her health.

When her WWE contract expired in 2022, she signed with AEW as Saraya and returned to the ring, winning the AEW Women’s Championship from Hikaru Shida. She competed for AEW through March 2025 before departing. Her path back to WWE culminated at WrestleMania 42, where she replaced an injured Nikki Bella to team with Brie Bella and win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, becoming a champion in her first WWE match in over seven years.
