REPORT: Two Big Names Have Been Discussed As Roman Reigns’ Next Opponents

Roman Reigns’ schedule as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion is beginning to take shape, and two of the biggest names in the company are expected to be part of what comes next.

According to Bodyslam, both Gunther and Oba Femi are expected to be part of Reigns’ upcoming feuds following his WrestleMania 42 night two victory over CM Punk. The report aligns with recent internal discussion within WWE about building the next phase of top-level programming around the returning Tribal Chief.

Dave Meltzer separately noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the idea of Reigns facing Gunther has been talked about internally as a major program moving forward.

The groundwork for both potential feuds was laid at WrestleMania 42 weekend itself. Femi called out Reigns directly at the post-show following his dominant victory over Brock Lesnar, and Reigns responded by telling Femi to prove himself over the summer before stepping to The Tribal Chief. Gunther, meanwhile, defeated Seth Rollins on night one.

Reigns also addressed the part-timer criticism at the post-show on Sunday, vowing to appear all summer and announcing he would be at Monday Night Raw the following night in Las Vegas. His commitment to a more regular schedule would be necessary to sustain back-to-back major programs with two of the company’s top performers.
