Ric Flair has pitched The Undertaker as a potential successor to Triple H in WWE’s creative leadership role, while also opening up about the current state of his relationship with his former Evolution stablemate.
Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Flair was asked about The Undertaker’s recent work as a booker for AAA in Mexico and whether he could see a similar role for him in WWE. Flair went further than the question asked, suggesting Taker should be considered for the top creative position if circumstances ever change at WWE.
“If they let go Hunter and Taker is physically able to do it, he should be the next head of creative,” Flair said.
When pressed on whether he thinks Triple H should actually leave WWE, Flair was quick to clarify his comments were not a criticism of the current arrangement.
“No, no, no. I’m saying if something happens with Hunter, because, you know, he has some very serious health issues. You know that, right? Nothing’s guaranteed,” Flair said.
Flair also reflected on his personal history with Triple H and the profound impact their professional relationship had on his career, particularly during the Evolution era.
“Well, it’s good, I mean, we exchange pleasantries, but here’s the deal with Triple H. He did do much for me. He did so much for me after Bischoff destroyed me. And when he brought me into the company, which he did, I think more than Vince did, we did Evolution, which restored my confidence because Bischoff had completely killed me. So, I can’t get mad at him. Our relationship is not the same, but he has a lot on his plate. Running the WWE and being in charge of this and that, constantly being scrutinized,” Flair said.
Triple H and Flair were part of Evolution alongside Randy Orton and Batista, a faction credited with revitalizing Flair’s standing in WWE during the mid-2000s.
