Several Lucha Underground wrestlers will be on their way out of the promotion after this upcoming season. They will start taping next week (2/23) but they will not be at the old Temple. Instead, they will be taping at 1525 Industrial Street, a warehouse that is part of Union Central Cold Storage in downtown Los Angeles. The reason why they had to move is because of budget cuts. The plan is to have wrestlers based L.A. for a few weeks until tapings are finished so that they can cut down on travel costs.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that a lot of the talent working on the upcoming season have an agreement that their characters will be written off so they can get released from their seven-year contracts. Some wrestlers, specifically the names that have some buzz behind them, are looking at getting signed elsewhere. Wrestlers under contract with Lucha Underground are able to work for Impact but they can’t sign with WWE or ROH. New Japan Pro Wrestling is an option but they are not likely to get a push unless they are free and clear from LU.
Some wrestlers might not want to sign with Impact because they are not offering significant money right now.
