SPOILER: News on who will be Shane McMahon’s opponent at WWE SummerSlam

If you paid close attention to this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, then it should be clear that there are plans for Shane McMahon to wrestle at SummerSlam. The backstage segment between McMahon and Kevin Owens was meant to be the beginning of the build towards a match.

They have several weeks left to build towards the match but things should get clearer on Tuesday night after Owens gets his rematch against AJ Styles for the United States Championship. The story that they are telling is similar to the story they told for McMahon’s match with Styles at WrestleMania. Owens feels that he would still be the United States Champion if it weren’t for McMahon screwing him over and this likely means that Styles will retain on Tuesday night.

As of today, these are the matches that have been officially announced for SummerSlam:

WWE Universal Championship
Brock Lesnar (Champion) vs. Samoa Joe vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns

WWE Championship
Jinder Mahal vs. the winner of the John Cena/Shinsuke Nakamura match on Smackdown

Raw Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss (Champion) vs. Bayley

Smackdown Women’s Championship
Naomi (Champion) vs. Natalya

Other matches likely to be added, based on current storylines:

Raw Tag Team Championship
Sheamus and Cesaro (Champions) vs. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose

Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The Uso (Champions) vs. The New Day

The Hardy Boyz vs. The Revival vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

Cruiserweight Championship
Neville (Champion) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Ariya Daivari

Also, it looks like we could see Jason Jordan challenging The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship. If that is the plan, then this coming Monday’s Miz TV segment would be the start of that feud.
