Fans of Lars Sullivan noticed that he has been missing for a while. It was previously reported how Sullivan was penciled in to face Andrade Cien Almas for the NXT Title at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans but that spot obviously went to Aleister Black instead.
There is a good reason why Sullivan has been absent from NXT recently because he is simply injured. But he should be back sooner than later. Therefore it’s not likely to cost him any more time away from the story.
“Lars Sullivan has a knee injury and he also has a health issue,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “But he should be back this week or next so all that is accurate in the sense of he was going for the championship but because of his health issue and missing all the tv [tapings] and they taped all the tvs last week so he wasn’t going to be back for them so you have to do what you have to do and Aleister Black is in there.”
It was noted that Aleister Black vs Andrade Cien Almas will probably be a better match than Sullivan vs Almas for the NXT Title, but Lars Sulivan is expected to pick up where he once was when NXT tapes their next set of television shows.
