Vince McMahon And WWE File To Block Janel Grant’s Discovery Request

Vince McMahon and WWE are looking to block Janel Grant’s legal team from obtaining a wide range of documents in her ongoing lawsuit. According to a report from Post Wrestling, both defendants filed opposition on Monday to Grant’s attempt to seek new information.

McMahon’s legal team argued that Grant has failed to meet the legal standard for pre-arbitration discovery and is attempting to conduct an “improper fishing expedition” for unrelated documents. WWE’s filing echoed this, stating that Grant’s request is a “transparent attempt to circumvent the Court’s stay order and initiate full merits discovery before the Court is able to decide Defendants’ motions to compel arbitration.”

The filings are in response to a request made by Grant’s team last week for numerous documents, including emails between Vince and Linda McMahon, WWE board materials, and various drafts of the non-disclosure agreement at the center of the lawsuit. Grant’s legal team claims she signed the NDA under “extreme state of duress and coercion.”

WWE’s team argued that Grant has “failed to present any allegations, let alone ‘reliable evidence’ that she did not intend to be bound by the arbitration provision or that the agreement to arbitrate was induced by fraud or duress.”
