WWE booking Brock Lesnar in Men’s Royal Rumble Match could set up his WrestleMania opponent

WWE revealed what WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will be doing at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event during the opening segment of this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Oklahoma City, OK at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on the USA Network.

This is where Paul Heyman announced that Lesnar won’t be defending the WWE Championship at this show but rather, Lesnar will be competing in the actual Royal Rumble Match and enter the contest as the first entrant.

WrestleVotes sent out a tweet this morning noting how Lesnar working the Royal Rumble Match is a way to set up his match at WrestleMania 36.

The tweet also referred to how Heyman mentioned that with Lesnar working the Royal Rumble, he would face talents across all three brands – Raw, SmackDown and NXT.

“Source says WWE is doing this Lesnar in the Rumble angle as a way to set up Brock’s Mania matchup. Which could signal its against someone from SD or NXT as Heyman mentioned a few times last night. Opens up a world of possibilities.”

There’s still no word yet on Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponent. What we do know is two names that won’t reportedly be Lesnar’s opponent at this show, which are Cain Velasquez and Tyson Fury.

WWE holds the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on Sunday, January 26, 2020 Houston, Texas at the Minute Maid Park and airs on the WWE Network.
