WWE sent out an email to their mailing list on Saturday that confirms the rumor that they are ending brand-exclusive pay-per-views. The speculation started last week when Ticketmaster sent out an email to let fans know that Backlash would now be a combined show.
The reason for the change is likely because it’s not cost-effective to continue split-branded shows because they have not led to a significant increase in WWE Network subscriptions. The idea is to load up one pay-per-view per month with talent from both brands in hopes that it will increase subscriptions and ticket sales. If you were a fan of the first brand split then you’ll remember that they tried this before until Vince McMahon to combine both rosters.
WWE released the following pay-per-view schedule for 2018:
WrestleMania 34 – April 8, 2018
WWE Backlash – May 6, 2018
WWE Money in the Bank – June 17, 2018
