WWE and collectible toy company ghostwrite have released “SummerSlam Rivals,” a blind box set of 16 figures based on eight SummerSlam matches. A limited number of cases are being auctioned on ghostwrite.com, with bidding ending at midnight Pacific tonight, Friday, October 16 (3 a.m. ET Saturday).
ghostwrite announced the set in a press release sent to WrestlingNews.co. Each figure pays tribute to a SummerSlam match, according to ghostwrite’s guide to the set:
- Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog (1992)
- Undertaker vs. Underfaker (1994)
- Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H (2002)
- The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar (2002)
- Kane vs. Rey Mysterio (2010)
- CM Punk vs. John Cena (2011)
- Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair (2018)
- Logan Paul vs. LA Knight (2024)
What Is In The Set
The figures are 2.75 inches tall and come in blind boxes, 12 to a case, with 19 designs in the full set and at least one rare figure in every case, according to ghostwrite’s product page. ghostwrite made 2,371 cases, and 300 of them are in a blind Dutch auction that runs until 3 a.m. ET Saturday and allows up to 20 bids per person. The rest will be sold through breakers, hobby shops and other ghostwrite partners.
ghostwrite’s first WWE set, “Volume I,” also sold 300 cases at auction, with a clearing price of $400 per case on 675 bids, according to the company’s site.
Like trading cards, the boxes include rare variants, called parallels, inserted at random. Each wrestler comes in Ghost (100 made), Sapphire (50), Emerald (25), Gold (10), Chrome (5) and a one-of-one Fire Crown version, which means there are 16 one-of-one figures in the set. The Underfaker figure is a short print, with 50 made. The Sapphire through Fire Crown parallels qualify for free grading through December 31, 2026.
What Earlier WWE Figures Have Sold For
The most valuable WWE ghostwrite sale so far was a Hulk Hogan Chrome figure, one of five made, which sold for $4,000 on eBay last month, ghostwrite said. Parallels of The Rock, Logan Paul and Rhea Ripley from the first two ghostwrite WWE sets have also sold for four figures, the company said.
“Collectors are voting with their wallets: some of the most valuable ghostwrite figures on the secondary market are from our WWE sets,” ghostwrite co-founder Jesse Einhorn said. “What’s even more remarkable is that we’ve yet to see any of the rarest WWE figures, the 1-of-1 Fire Crown parallels, hit the open market. Last month, a 1-of-1 Victor Wembanyama ghostwrite figure sold for a record-setting $52,500, so the ceiling for those grails just keeps getting higher.”
ghostwrite and WWE have released several collectibles together, including a John Cena figure for his final match and an Undertaker figure for the 35th anniversary of his debut.
The SummerSlam Rivals auction is live at ghostwrite.com until midnight Pacific tonight.
