WWE Great Balls Of Fire results: Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman in an Ambulance Match

The much-anticipated Ambulance Match between Braun Strawman and Roman Reigns took place at the WWE Great Balls Of Fire pay-per-view. As expected, it was a brutal match. Here is a rundown of some of the key spots from the match…

They fought at ringside during the first few minutes of the match. Later on, Reigns smashed a chair on Strowman’s arm that was wedged by the ring post. Reigns hit him with several chair shots to the body but Strowman no-sold them and then rammed Reigns into the barricade in the aisleway. The story of the match was that Reigns hit Strowman with everything possible but Strowman kept getting up. The made their way to the stage area and Strowman rammed Reigns into the screen near the entryway. Strowman tried to toss Reigns off the stage but he managed to slip out and they fought towards the other side of the stage where the ambulance was parked. Strowman launched Reigns into the side of the ambulance while holding his elbow. They ended up fighting behind the ambulance, Reigns hit a Superman punch and Strowman fell inside but the door was open. Reigns hit a second Superman punch but Strowman was still on his feet. Strowman grabbed a backboard and nailed Reigns with it two times. They fought on the stage again. Reigns hit a spear on Strowman through the stage as fans chanted “holy shit.” I’m so glad that they didn’t set off those fake explosions like they’ve done before when someone goes through a LED set.

Reigns tried to pull Strowman towards the ambulance but Strowman shoved him off of the stage. Reigns hit Strowman with a lighting fixture and then went for a spear but got caught because Strowman stepped out of the way. Strowman essentially launched himself into the ambulance and Strowman locked the doors behind him. After the match, Reigns jumped out of the ambulance and speared Strowman. Then he smashed him several times with the ambulance door before locking him in and driving off with Strowman in the back. They cut to the backstage area. Reigns backed the ambulance into a truck. There were people frantically trying to unlock the ambulance. Kurt Angle and others called for help. Jamie Noble was using a crowbar to try to open the ambulance door as Curt Hawkins was making his way to the ring for a bonus match with Heath Slater. The match was an excuse for WWE to continue focusing on what was going on backstage as medical personnel made their way to use the jaws of life to get Strowman out of the ambulance.

Michael Cole was in his full somber voice as Kurt Angle and others looked on as the fire department worked to get the ambulance door open. After several minutes, they finally got the door open. Strowman had trouble getting to his feet but he refused help from anyone. His face and arms were bloody.

On a somewhat related note… Several readers have been asking about The Undertaker possibly returning to wrestle Roman Reigns again. Some of you may have noticed that Michael Cole once again avoided saying that The Undertaker was retired. Instead, he said, “Roman Reigns may have ended the career of The Undertaker.” There is a decent chance that The Undertaker will wrestle again.
