If you’ve listened to last week’s Piper’s Pit podcast with Roddy Piper then you may have heard the story he told about Bill Watts. Piper said that he never worked for Bill Watts because when Watts ran a show in the Superdome in New Orleans he only paid the main event guys and gave everyone else a note in their pay envelope that read, “You should be honored just to get to work on a card like this.” Piper claimed that’s all they got and they didn’t get paid. The story never happened and was complete BS from Piper. Piper has told this story in the past on a Legends roundtable. Jim Ross was on that roundtable and said that the story Piper told never happened.
Piper is known to say crazy things like that but WWE has been very upset with him as of late and it could be because of what he said on the shoot interview about Pat Patterson. Piper basically hinted that Patterson took advantage of him in the 70s when Piper was first starting in the business. It could be that they’re upset for something unrelated but they are not happy with him right now.
