WWE’s newest signee Matt Riddle injured over the weekend

Matt Riddle was injured over the weekend during a hardcore match with Shane Strickland in Philadelphia. Riddle’s mom posted a photo of his hand that showed that he suffered a nasty cut on his finger. She noted that it was a deep cut that took the tip of his pointer finger off. Riddle has been pulled from independent bookings because of the cut but he did wrestle on a show on the following day against Austin Theory in Massachusetts. He is expected to make his NXT debut at Takeover: Brooklyn 4, likely in the crowd like they have done with previous signees. Obviously, since he didn’t break any bones, this is not a serious injury that will delay his debut for WWE NXT.

Riddle’s mom wrote, “Thank you for watching and checking in on him @prowrestling5star!
Today Matt wrestled an intense hardcore match that involved tables, ladders and chairs. The first chair clip took the tip of his pointer finger off (wrong finger in my comment).? Blood within the first few minutes got the kids attention for sure. He explained to them today that he was going to wrestle hard, and it was going to be intense to watch. They smiled and said they couldn’t wait to see. It did rock them a little. Watching Dad get carried off like he did was not easy. Thankfully Fred got the wink he did at them on video! When he showed them how Dad gave them a wink as he was getting taken out they felt better.”

Riddle dropped the EVOLVE title during that match.
