WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne pulled from indie show during Royal Rumble weekend

It shouldn’t have come as a huge surprised when Pete Dunne received an amazing reception as he made his Raw debut in Manchester England during WWE’s last European tour. But he sadly hasn’t been seen on the program since.

Dunne is allowed to work indie dates around the globe while carrying the WWE United Kingdom Championship, but it looks like he won’t be showing up for one date. The curious part of it is how close to the Royal Rumble pay-per-view this event is.

Brittania Wrestling Promotions recently announced Pete Dunne won’t be appearing at their show on the 27th which is just one day prior to the big Royal Rumble event in Philadelphia. On their Facebook page, the British wrestling promotion confirmed this by putting out the following release:

“It is with regret that we inform the BWP Faithful that Pete Dunne will no longer be attending BWP Royally Rumbled next weekend due to last minute contractual obligations to WWE. WWE have called Pete back to America ahead of their Royal Rumble event next Sunday.

However …. a suitable replacement has been booked to take Pete’s place in the Triple Threat Match next weekend, his replacement being fellow WWE Superstar ‘Moustache Mountain’ Trent Seven!!!

Trent will also be doing the Meet & Greet from 5.30pm as well as taking part in the show later next Saturday evening.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our fans but as we are sure you can appreciate, this is completely beyond our, and Petes, control. Pete Dunne has assured us that he WILL be coming to Britannia Wrestling Promotions very shortly.”

If this means a United Kingdom Championship match during the Royal Rumble weekend in Philly, then that would be a huge treat. But if this announcement just means Pete Dunne will be taking part in the big Royal Rumble match, then it could be a nice consolation if they booked him properly as well.

The fact is Pete Dunne is an amazing pro wrestler with tons of untapped potential. Let’s hope WWE will start giving him a little bit more of a spotlight. After all, he is holding a championship title even if it’s one which is widely believed to be low on the totem pole.
