The first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match very well could be the highlight of this year’s show. If recent speculation that WWE won’t go very long with the Universal Championship match is correct then this event could very well be built around two big Rumble matches.
It was mentioned on Wrestling Observer Live that the fact that this year’s event will feature the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble might be the only attraction WWE thinks they need, especially if Ronda Rousey isn’t going to be around which Dave Meltzer said his gut is to believe her.
But there is an issue with the Women’s Royal Rumble because a lot of people are wondering who we will see in the match. After all, at last count, there are twelve openings for the match since Paige isn’t competing. It even looks like Lana is in the match, so good for her. But Dave Meltzer said the numbers he’s heard indicate that we should expect 9 stars from NXT and 3 surprises in the match as well.
The women from NXT in the Royal Rumble might not be total call-ups, but you never know what can happen in WWE.
Although Meltzer didn’t identify those surprises it wouldn’t surprise me to see some of the women who came out to wave “hello” during Raw 25. Trish Stratus was looking pretty great, just saying.
