WWE took a chance this week by kicking off the show with a gauntlet match and it paid off for them.
This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw averaged 2.98 million viewers. The first hour, which featured Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs. John Cena, drew 3.52 million viewers. That is up 7.2 percent from last week’s first hour. The gauntlet match kept fans tuned in for the second hour as well because 3.51 million fans watched. The third hour, headlined by the six-woman tag team match, drew 2.82 million viewers.
This should prove to Vince McMahon that more wrestling and less skits can draw ratings. This week’s number is more impressive when you consider that they were up against the Olympics on NBC.
Raw was the highest rated show on cable for Monday night.
Here is the hourly breakdown:
Hour 1 – 3.52 million viewers
Hour 2 – 3.51 million viewers
Hour 3 – 2.82 million viewers
