AJ Styles is set for one of the biggest matches of his career at WrestleMania but an injury scare certainly made a lot of people worry that it could get in the way of his plans for WrestleMania.
However, as Styles let his injury heal-up it looks like he’s good to go as Dave Meltzer discussed his current injury status on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“He’s hurt but I don’t think there’s any big problem as far as him doing the match [with Nakamura] since he worked all weekend. He worked SmackDown 8-man tag matches with AJ teaming with the New Day in the main events and he didn’t do much in the ring. But he was there and did wrestle which means he is cleared which we reported late I think on Thursday.”
“So there’s nothing to worry about as far as him doing the match. And I think that knowing him and the fact that it’s WrestleMania and everything like that, you know. Even if he was on one leg he’d end up doing a great match against Nakamura.”
Although Styles’ injury was never actually spoken about in an official sense, Meltzer went on to say he believed AJ’s issue was a knee problem.
“My presumption is it is an MCL injury but it’s still not confirmed” Dave Meltzer concluded.
Therefore, it looks like AJ Styles might have scared a lot of people but he will end up being able to make WrestleMania and take on Shinsuke Nakamura. Those two will try their best to steal the show no matter where they are on the card. After all, Styles and Shane McMahon opened up WrestleMania 33 and had one of the best matches on the show so it doesn’t matter when Styles vs Nakamura goes down, the important part is that it’s still happening.
