All Elite Wrestling will indeed be taping episodes of their weekly Dark series from a studio setting.
It was reported last week that due to AEW taping Rampage after Dynamite on most weeks, the promotion planned to move the Dark tapings to Universal Studios in Orlando Florida at one of their sound stages.
AEW President Tony Khan confirmed this is the plan during today’s media call to promote Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view event.
Khan stated that Rafael Morffi, who also worked for Impact, helped put it together. Dark will primarily be a studio format going forward although there will still be some editions in arenas. Dark: Elevation will continue to be taped at the weekly Dynamite events for now.
AEW plans to utilize the building a bit differently and compares it more to how WCW taped there with Worldwide. He thinks it’s a great place for the veterans and the new talent.
Khan considers Dynamite and Rampage to be AEW’s “A shows” but notes the Dark shows are also very good. He also put over the top talent that works Dark matches on a regular basis.
Impact Wrestling used the lot for years to tape their weekly shows. They had aired shows from Soundstage 21 and then later at Soundstage 19 and 20.
