El Grande Americano vs. “The Original” El Grande Americano — Mask vs. Mask
This is the most important match in lucha libre: a Máscara contra Máscara (Mask vs. Mask) match. Under lucha libre tradition, the loser must unmask in front of the crowd, one of the most significant moments a luchador can experience. Masks are a core part of a luchador’s identity, and losing one is considered a major sacrifice.
The feud traces back to January 31, 2026, when a mystery luchador billed as “The Original” El Grande Americano entered the Royal Rumble at number 13 and immediately eliminated El Grande Americano, who had entered at 12. “The Original” went on to attack El Grande Americano repeatedly, stealing his ceremonial sword at Week 2 of the Rey de Reyes tournament. El Grande Americano answered with a Mask vs. Mask challenge, which AAA Executive Producer The Undertaker officially sanctioned on April 14.
El Grande Americano is a luchador character who debuted on WWE Raw in March 2025. The character initially drew strong resistance from Mexican audiences for its portrayal of American culture clashing with lucha libre traditions, but gradually won over those same fans after performing “Cielito Lindo” during his entrance at Triplemanía XXXIII last August. “The Original” Americano has been presented as an AI-generated impostor, having been accused on AAA television of using artificial intelligence to simulate Spanish-speaking abilities.
El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs. El Hijo del Vikingo | AAA Latin American Championship
The AAA Latin American Championship is on the line as El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. defends against El Hijo del Vikingo. El Hijo del Vikingo is one of the most exciting luchadors in AAA and brings serious threat to the title in this matchup.
Laredo Kid (c) vs. Rey Fenix | AAA World Cruiserweight Championship
Laredo Kid puts the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on the line against Rey Fenix in what figures to be one of the most athletically spectacular matches of the night. Fenix is one of the most decorated and electric performers in the sport and has a history with AAA gold.
