AEW is planning to return to Arena Mexico for a second Grand Slam Mexico show in 2026, though it will not take place as early as June, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The first AEW Grand Slam Mexico took place on June 18, 2025, as a special episode of AEW Dynamite in a co-promotion with CMLL. The show was announced on April 16, 2025 and sold out Arena Mexico ahead of the event. It marked AEW’s first-ever show in Mexico and the debut of the Grand Slam Mexico branding.
The card for the 2025 event featured a mix of AEW and CMLL talent across six matches. MÃstico defeated MJF by disqualification in the headline singles bout, while Mercedes Mone captured the CMLL World Women’s Championship from Zeuxis. Other results included Kazuchika Okada defeating Mark Briscoe, Hologram winning a four-way match over Lio Rush, Máscara Dorada, and Ricochet, and Death Riders and The Young Bucks defeating a team including The Opps, Will Ospreay, and Swerve Strickland in a 10-man tag match.
The AEW Grand Slam brand originated in New York City at Arthur Ashe Stadium in September 2021 before expanding internationally. AEW Grand Slam Australia took place in February 2025, with a second Grand Slam Australia also on the books for 2026. The Mexico edition has now joined the rotation as a recurring international Grand Slam event.
Arena Mexico, located in Mexico City, is one of the most storied wrestling venues in the world and is the home of CMLL, founded in 1933. The building has a capacity of approximately 16,500 for wrestling events and has hosted countless historic lucha libre moments over its decades of operation.
No date or additional details for the 2026 Grand Slam Mexico have been confirmed at this time.
