We got a couple of readers asking about heat on Ronda Rousey for missing Raw this week. Actually, there is no heat on her. Furthermore, although the tweets that were sent out by wrestlers such as Nikki Bella a couple of weeks ago might lead you to believe that there is heat backstage with Ronda Rousey, that is not the case at all and some of the women that took shots at her on Twitter are actually friends of Rousey. WWE wants to plant seeds for post-WrestleMania storylines and they are doing everything now (more than ever before) to push the women as serious athletes since Rousey is their top mainstream star.
Rousey took the time to shake everyone’s hand backstage on the night of her first Monday Night Raw appearance. Everything said at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view about Rousey not wanting special privileges is true. She has not asked for special travel or a special dressing room and she has told people backstage that she wants to do everything to earn their respect.
It’s no secret that Rousey has been training at the Performance Center in recent months. She tried her best to keep her WWE status a secret and oftentimes, she would go late at night to the PC and train with people like Natalya and Charlotte Flair. According to WWE sources, she is actually pretty good for her level of experience and fans will be surprised at what she can do in the ring.
As one person put it, “some people come here and it’s just a paycheck to them but she seems to actually care and she’s trying to fit in with the locker room.”
