Eric Bischoff says as a fan he would prefer not to see Rey Mysterio wrestle again

Rey Mysterio was the Biggest Little Man in WWE and it looked like he might be flirting with a return to McMahonโ€™s Museum Of Musclemen. There are also reports heโ€™s talking to GFW about coming in to their company. He would be joining his old buddy Konnan there along with a whole bounty of talented performers in Jeff Jarrettโ€™s Playground Of Pain if he went there.

A lot of people have an opinion of what Rey should do next in his career and Eric Bischoff is certainly one of them. Bischoff On Wrestling recently had a Live Anniversary Special where he went into his opinion of Mysterio at this current stage in his career and what might be best for The Master Of The 619.

โ€œI donโ€™t know. I love Rey, heโ€™s such a good guyโ€ Eric said. โ€œGreat performer, heโ€™s accomplished so much in the business. I want Rey to achieve and to do whatever Rey wants to do. As someone who has a lot of affection for Rey. Heโ€™s a good guy, and I respect the hell out of him. So whatever he wants to do is what I want to see him do.โ€

Bischoff went into a little bit more explanation on what he thinks might be best for Rey Mysterioโ€™s career. It turns out, Eric thinks Rey might do himself justice to just hang it up at this stage. Bischoff meant no disrespect and went on to explain his point well.

โ€œNow as a fan of Rey Mysterio I would prefer not to see him wrestle again. Reyโ€™s at that point in his career now, I think where heโ€™s never going to be able to live up to the Rey Mysterio that was at the peak of his career that we all want to remember and hold onto.โ€

Eric said sometimes a performer has to be willing to let go and let their legacy live on. Rey was a tremendous character and changed the business in the United States. But at 42-years old and after racking up so many awful injuries in his career, maybe Rey should consider whatโ€™s best for his career.

But in the end Bischoff said itโ€™s not about him, and itโ€™s not even about the fans. Eric said itโ€™s up to Rey satisfying himself with the level of competition he can give at this stage in his career. But in the end Bischoff said, โ€œnothing against GFW, but thatโ€™s just not the way that I would like to see a guy like Rey Mysterio end his career.โ€

Eric said if GFW can turn a corner, โ€œthen great. They have a lighter schedule thatโ€™s appealing to him. The fact that Konnan is at GFW and I know that [Konnan] and Rey are very, very tight โ€” have been for many, many, many years. Maybe thatโ€™s something thatโ€™s really important to Rey. If thatโ€™s the case โ€” great. You know? I full support him and hope thatโ€™s what makes him happy. But I think that the opportunities that lie within WWE are probably much longer term and maybe a better way to end your career than what we currently see at least in GFW.โ€

Who knows what decision Rey Mysterio will make. But heโ€™s certainly in the position to make the best decision for himself at this point in his career.
