Former NXT Tag Team Champions could continue heated rivalry in 2018

By the time 2018 comes to a close who knows what will transpire in the WWE Universe? After all, few would have placed money on Jason Jordan concluding 2017 as a Raw Tag Team Champion alongside Seth Rollins.

But Johnny Gargano has a great opportunity at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia when he challenges Andrade Cien Almas for the NXT Championship. Therefore, he could very well be starting off 2018 with a huge milestone.

Johnny Wrestling recently tweeted out that he had a feeling 2018 was going to be “pretty cool” and with a match like the one he has with Almas in the pipeline, that’s a pretty safe statement to make.

Gargano’s former #DIY tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa replying with a “Happy New Year, man” could mean several things. This might be a simple Holiday greeting that totally breaks kayfabe, but then again it could be a clue that while Gargano tweets from Cleveland Ohio, Ciampa is gearing up for a return to ruin his former partner’s day.

Only time will tell how Ciampa will return to NXT when his injury is all healed up but latest reports were we might expect him back by March. If this projected return time is accurate, it could mean a pretty epic encounter of two former NXT Tag Team Champions in New Orleans. After all, their encounter during the Cruiserweight Classic was a masterful feat of in-ring storytelling and they could certainly use a chance to recreate that magic.
