John Cena’s movie career is picking up in a big way and it looks like he just snagged another film role that could amount to some big things down the line.
Duke Nukem was one of our favorite video games back in the day and since we live in a time were everything is experiencing a reboot, a Duke Nukem movie is also on the way.
But there is great news for Cena because he was recently confirmed by producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller to be the guy who will bring Dude Nukem to the silver screen.
However, just because Cena is a lock for the part of Nukem it turns out they still need to hammer down a script first.
“Yeah, that’s what we’re working with now. He is [confirmed]. Yes. We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there’s ways that he could pull out, but right now he’s our guy,” the Duke Nukem producers told CinemaBlend.
“We are working on Duke Nukem right now. It’s going to be about tone. That’s about tone. How do you nail that tone in the way that Deadpool nailed the tone? I think we have to do that and if we don’t get the tone right then we’re not going to make the movie.”
Hopefully, John Cena will bring a great dynamic to the Duke Nukem character. He certainly has the look down, but the WWE Universe might need to prepare for a movie that isn’t family friendly because if this upcoming film is anything like the OG video game, there could be plenty of NSFW portions throughout the film.
Still, this is a great get for John Cena and we can’t wait to see what he does with the part as soon as they get the script together.
