One year after The Glorious One made his NXT debut he was NXT Champion and remained unbeaten. He was a Glorious Champion and looked amazing with his belt. Bobby Roode’s entrance was pretty sweet too. But Drew McIntyre wasn’t going to give up without a fight because the former Chosen One was primed and ready to give everything he had in Brooklyn.
Drew got a very cool entrance as he was joined by a fleet of bagpipe players to play along with his awesome entrance. He already looked like a champion, he just needed to get that belt off Bobby. Of course, Roode got an amazing entrance. They turned the entrance ramp into a giant piano again which is always fun.
Drew punished Bobby in the beginning and after a shoulder block, Roode went outside to collect himself. Once he returned to the ring he stood toe-to-toe with Drew once again and finally caused enough separation after a close-Glorious DDT to do his amazing “Glorious” taunt.
Roode chopped Drew in the corner and with every chop huge “WOOO’s” broke out in the crowd. But Drew would soon return the punishing chops to the chest. McIntyre sent Roode to the canvas with a big boot and then tossed the Glorious One across the ring and clotheslined him out of the ring. Drew followed to continue to assault.
Bobby took advantage and soon hit a neckbreaker off the apron to the floor and then he drove his foe into the barricade. Once they returned to the ring Bobby hit a nice top rope drop kick and Bobby locked on a sleeper to tire Drew down. McIntyre fought out of it and Bobby ran at him but Drew countered with a belly-to-belly throw on The Glorious One.
Bobby tried for a cross body but Drew caught him and transitioned it into a Celtic Cross. They ended up on the top rope after that and Bobby fought him off but Drew jumped up and was crotched by Roode. Drew ended up hanging upside down but tossed Bobby across the ring using the power of his legs. Bobby played opossum for a bit but the trick didn’t work.
Drew hit a Future Shock DDT for the two count. Bobby eventually hit a powerbomb off the top rope for another two count.
Drew took an enziguri but followed it up with a Claymore kick for a two count because Bobby Roode found the bottom rope with his toe. Roode rolled outside and Drew hit a flipping dive and didn’t get caught very well. Drew kind of just splatted on the floor but he still got to his feet first.
When they returned to the ring Bobby Roode hit a Glorious DDT after Drew blocked the first one. But Drew kicked out. Bobby looked frustrated as he hit another Glorious DDT but he held on and got greedy. Bobby went for a third Glorious DDT but Drew McIntyre reversed out of that one and hit the Claymore Kick. 1-2-3 and there’s a new NXT Champion!
Winner and NEW NXT Champion: Drew McIntyre
After the match was over and Drew was in the ring celebrating and turned around to see reDRagon standing on the apron. Suddenly ADAM COLE BAY-BAY jumped in to blindside him and took out the new NXT Champion. HUGE Adam Cole chants broke out as he grabbed the NXT Championship and crouched over the new NXT Champion.
Drew got an incredible entrance with some sick bagpipe music. They really went all out for that entrance.
