Mac Davis brought up Ric Flair’s latest social media drama on Road Trip After Hours, but admitted he nearly left it off the show entirely. “Ric Flair is out here acting a fool again. I got, you know, I was going to bring that up on the show, and I just decided not to, because, to be quite honest, it seems like every time we do a damn show, he’s doing something stupid.”
Teddy Long asked the obvious. “What has he done now?”
The Kaiser Threat And The Walk-Back
Davis laid it out. “He started getting on to Kaiser. I can’t remember his first name from WWE, said he was going to kick his ass and all this other stuff, and that’s why he couldn’t go to Wrestlemania. And then the next day, he’s saying, oh, I didn’t really mean all that, you know, just typical Ric Flair bullshit. He says something he’s always got to go back and fix.”
A viewer in the chat eventually filled in the blank — Ludwig Kaiser, the WWE-contracted German wrestler currently working as El Grande Americano in AAA. Davis kept going. “It’s like, just stay off his social media. It’s not that freaking difficult, but yet this guy continues to just make himself look like a complete ass out there. But I understand. That’s why I didn’t bring it up, because there’s just no sense. It’s the same thing every week. Every week, it’s something new with him.”
Teddy Long: ‘That’s How You Stay Relevant’
Long had a one-line read on it. “That’s how you stay relevant.”
Davis pushed back. “No, I guess. But that’s sad, Teddy, because he was a legendary professional wrestler in my eyes, and now I don’t look at him the same way as I once did. I’m sorry, I just don’t.”
What Flair Originally Said To Ariel Helwani
Flair’s initial comments came on The Ariel Helwani Show, where he claimed WWE banned him from WrestleMania 42 — including from inducting Dennis Rodman at the WWE Hall of Fame and from appearing at Stephanie McMahon’s induction — over a phone call he made to Kaiser. Flair said the call came after Kaiser was perceived to be commenting on Flair’s daughter Charlotte Flair during Charlotte’s storyline against Kaiser’s then-girlfriend Tiffany Stratton ahead of WrestleMania 41. Per Flair’s account, he called Kaiser and said, “Hey, when I see you, I’m gonna beat the shit out of you.” Per Flair, Kaiser then went to Triple H, which led to the WrestleMania ban.
In the same Helwani interview, Flair mistakenly described Kaiser as a 24-year-old Englishman. Kaiser is a 35-year-old German. Flair told Helwani he believed Kaiser would “be a fly on the wall in a year,” apparently unaware that Kaiser was working steadily in AAA as El Grande Americano. Helwani had to inform him on air that Kaiser was in fact still active and working in Mexico.
Flair also told Helwani he wasn’t allowed to be in the building when Stephanie McMahon was inducted into the Hall of Fame and felt disrespected by the entire situation given his run in WWE. He claimed in the interview that “a 24-year-old kid being threatened by a 76-year-old man” should not have been enough to keep him out of WrestleMania 42 weekend.
The Apology Came Within 48 Hours
Flair issued a public apology to Kaiser on X on April 27, 2026. “Mr. Ludwig Kaiser — I never implied that you couldn’t work, or didn’t have talent. I actually understand that you are doing really well with The Undertaker’s promotion. I am sorry that I got upset. I am naturally very protective of my daughters as I am sure as you grow older, you will be too. Continued success! I apologize for anything I said about you personally. It was not about your professional skill which I have heard is very good.”
Two days later, Flair followed up asking for less negativity online. “I have apologized, and I have retracted statements. I have made assumptions that are incorrect. I acknowledge everything that I have said. Can we just wake up tomorrow and let Ric Flair be Ric Flair. I am 77 with a heart condition and nothing is ever guaranteed.”
A Fightful Select report noted that WWE sources didn’t appear to recall the Kaiser issue Flair described, and Flair remains under AEW contract — which is widely viewed as the more likely reason he wasn’t part of WrestleMania 42 weekend.
Flair, real name Richard Morgan Fliehr, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 and again in 2012 as part of the Four Horsemen. The Undertaker has been working as a producer in AAA, the WWE-owned lucha libre promotion where Kaiser is currently masked as El Grande Americano. Long was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.
