There is an update on Bobby Lashley in the recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Basically, his deal with Impact Wrestling was supposed to expire in May. As previously noted, his deal is for a good amount of money. That’s great for him but Impact is in cost-cutting mode so they were ok with granting him an early release. For those of you wondering, and this was not mentioned in the Observer, Lashley will be a free agent on February 1st, so that should squash any Royal Rumble rumors.
The feeling is that he wanted his early release because he expects a good deal elsewhere. That could be in WWE or New Japan Pro Wrestling. Wherever he’s going, it must have been a good offer to pass up his final three months at Impact Wrestling.
EC3 has already started training at the WWE Performance Center so his re-debut is imminent. Laurel Van Ness is also rumored to be headed to WWE. Eddie Edwards, at last word, is opting to stay with Impact for a little while longer.
Eli Drake is another name that could be leaving within the next few months as Impact continues to trim their expenses.
