The Mae Young Classic generated a ton of speculation amongst fans on names that could be signed to join NXT or the main roster. Candice LeRae was one of the most popular wrestlers in the tournament and although she had been used at NXT tapings in recent months, she had not been signed to a contract.
Well, it looks like it’s finally happening. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, she is on WWE’s radar. In fact, she is going through the process that everyone has to go through before being offered a contract to sign. The process would include the standard medicals.
If everything checks out (ie. no injuries or concussion issues) then she will stop taking independent dates. That’s when we’ll have a better idea when she’ll make her debut. LeRae has been wrestling since 2002 and she is a former PWG World Tag Team Champion with Joey Ryan as “The World’s Cutest Tag Team.” She is married to current NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano.
In the meantime, LeRae is doing quite well for herself. She is one of the select few independent wrestlers with merchandise at Hot Topic and the word is that it’s selling well.
