In the main event of WWE Payback, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt put his Universal Championship on the line in a Triple Threat No Holds Barred Match against Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns.
Match notes written in real-time:
Strowman attacked Wyatt as his music was still playing and the match got started without Reigns. Early on, Wyatt hit the Sister Abigal but Strowman kicked out of the pin attempt. The fight continued at ringside and The Fiend picked up and delivered a Uranage slam on Strowman through a table as Alexa Bliss looked on backstage.
Wyatt grabbed a large clown mallet but Strowman threw a chair in The Fiend’s face. Wyatt fought back and then hit Storwman with the mallet. Wyatt also hit Strowman with the steel steps as they showed Bliss watching on from backstage. They made their way up to the stage area and Strowman did a running body block that knocked both of them off the stage and through a platform. They made their way back to the ring and Strowman went up to the top rope but Wyatt caught him with an uppercut and then superplexed him and then the ring imploded.
Roman Reigns’ music played and he made his way down to ringside with Heyman. Reigns signed the contract as he walked to the ring. Wyatt and Strowman were both knocked out. Reigns tried to pin them both but they kicked out. Reigns hit Strowman with several steel chair spots like Austin did to The Rock in 2001 when he turned heel. Strowman kicked out. Wyatt tried for the Mandible Claw but Reigns hit the low blow. Reigns then speared Strowman and pinned him to win the title.
