We’re getting closer to SummerSlam and things are finally starting to take shape for the Biggest Party Of The Summer. There are already a rumored 12-13 matches planned for the card and it’s going to be a big one. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the Hardy Boyz are planned to be in one of those matches.
Everyone was wondering what WWE would do with the tag team story line involving The Club, The Hardys, and The Revival. Scott Dawson had been put out of action due to a bicep injury (he was still working on) and that match was up in the air. So one of the reasons we tuned into Raw was to see how WWE would handle the situation.
But WWE didn’t seem to touch the story at all. They briefly mentioned Dawson’s injury on commentary (if you stepped out of the room for two seconds you missed it), The Club messed around with Enzo and Big Show as a placeholder to get Big Cass involved, and the Hardy Boyz weren’t even on the show.
People were curious why The Hardys were left off the show in the first place. Meltzer reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE couldn’t get everything situated concerning Jeff Hardy’s past felony drug conviction from seven years ago so they didn’t know if he could cross the border. Apparently, they were trying to get it all figured out but they couldn’t pull it off by Monday.
WWE was going to have Matt Hardy come in alone and shoot an angle with The Revival, but since Dawson went out of action they just called the whole thing off for now. WWE will hopefully figure out Jeff Hardy’s legal situation by the next time WWE tours Canada, at least that is the expectation. But this ordeal still left us Hardyless in Toronto.
You might wonder why Canada wouldn’t just let him in because he’s Jeff Hardy but apparently an exception couldn’t be fast-tracked in this case. It’s a real shame too because that part of Jeff’s life is way over with now and he’s gotten his head on straight again. But rules are rules, no matter how ridiculous they might sound.
