UFC star wants to get into pro wrestling

UPDATE: Werdum posted the following on Twitter:

ORIGINAL: Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum is the latest MMA fighter that wants to try his hand at professional wrestling.

Werdum told MMAFighting.com that he is trying to negotiate a deal with WWE and a meeting is scheduled for this week. He is not planning on retiring from MMA. In fact, he says that he would like to do both at the same time. He said, “You can do WWE. … If I had the opportunity I’d fight there, no problem. It’s financially great. Fight at WWE, a spectacle that is fun to do. I’d definitely do it. I have a meeting Thursday about it, doing both (UFC and WWE). I want to fight, doesn’t matter where.”

Werdum put over the hard work that comes with being a pro wrestler and said that it’s not as easy as some people might think because you have to be well trained and you have to learn how to captivate an audience.

If he signs a deal, then he would follow in the footsteps of names like Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and others that have done both wrestling and MMA. At 40 years old, it feels like his shelf life in WWE would be limited to a couple of years but it will be interesting to see if there is interest in signing him.
