Batista says he has put on 20 pounds of muscle as he prepares to play Kratos in Amazon’s live-action God of War series.
The WWE Hall of Famer shared the update on his Instagram Stories, posting a video showing off his transformed physique. He began training for the role shortly after his casting was announced in August.
Batista replaced Ryan Hurst as Kratos
Batista was officially confirmed as the new Kratos on August 21. Ryan Hurst was originally cast in the lead role of the Amazon Prime Video series, based on the PlayStation video game franchise, but suffered a bicep injury in June during filming, which led to the recast.
The series will run for two seasons, which are being filmed back-to-back. Frederick E.O. Toye is directing the first two episodes. No premiere date has been announced.
Batista’s Hollywood slate
The role is the latest addition to Batista’s growing film and TV career. The Wrecking Crew, his action-comedy with Jason Momoa, premiered on Prime Video on January 28. He also has Road House 2 and Highlander on the way, with the latter also featuring WWE star Drew McIntyre.
Batista is a six-time world champion in WWE, having held the WWE Championship twice and the World Heavyweight Championship four times. He won the Royal Rumble in 2005 and 2014 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2020.
