Street Fighter, starring Cody Rhodes as Guile and Roman Reigns as Akuma, opened No. 1 at the North American box office with an estimated $31 million over the October 16-18 weekend.

The film added $20.1 million internationally for a $51.1 million worldwide opening, according to Deadline. Deadline had projected a worldwide start of about $70 million.

Street Fighter holds a 41% critics score and a 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Legendary Pictures and Capcom adaptation was directed by Kitao Sakurai and is distributed by Paramount Pictures. The cast also includes Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Jason Momoa, David Dastmalchian, 50 Cent and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.

Cody Rhodes’ WWE Contract

Rhodes said on Flagrant that he re-signed with WWE and will end his wrestling career with the company. The New York Times reported the deal is a five-year extension.

Rhodes told Chris Van Vliet in March, “I know that the next deal I do will be my last, as a full-time wrestler.” On Flagrant, he said the new deal allows him to take outside work. “Say I do have another project. Say I got two other projects, whatever it may be. I’m able to take a step away, and I’m able to collaborate with WWE, and I’m able to come back home,” Rhodes said. Full details on his contract comments are here.

Rhodes has also called Hollywood “a definite natural extension” of wrestling, telling The Rich Eisen Show in May, “I definitely want to grow beyond telling stories in the ring.”

Other Wrestlers In Hollywood

Drew McIntyre has two films lined up. He was cast as Angus MacLeod, brother of Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod, in the Highlander reboot, as reported in September 2025. He also finished filming The Last Druid with Russell Crowe in August. McIntyre previously appeared in The Killer’s Game (2024) with Dave Bautista.

Randy Orton has said he plans to stay in wrestling. In a 2022 video marking his 20th anniversary in WWE, Orton said of Reigns, “I’m sure he’s got Dwayne Johnson’s agent’s number on speed dial. Roman will be in Hollywood — I’ll still be here.”

Analysis:

Street Fighter is the highest-profile project Rhodes has done outside of WWE. Rhodes is on what he has called his last contract as a full-time wrestler, and the deal is built to let him step away for outside projects. Fans should expect to see less of him on WWE television over the next few years.

If you’re looking for the next wrestlers to break out in Hollywood, Rhodes and Reigns are the best bets right now. McIntyre is taking the same steps with Highlander and The Last Druid, so expect to see more of him on screen in the years to come. Orton is one of the few exceptions. He has made it clear he wants to be a wrestler, not an actor.
