Taya Valkyrie has left AEW and is now a free agent.

Valkyrie announced on X on Wednesday that she elected not to accept an offer to extend her contract with the company. The statement, issued by her team in Los Angeles, said she made the decision “after much consideration and thorough discussions with her team.”

“I am incredibly grateful for my time with AEW and the opportunity to be part of the organization. While there, I wrestled and worked alongside exceptional talent, and built lasting relationships within the AEW family and [deepened] my relationships in the wrestling community,” Valkyrie said.

“I am beyond thankful to the fans for their continued support of me, not only in my time with AEW but also as I step into this new chapter as a free agent. I can’t wait for what’s to come and have a lot more to leave in the ring,” she said. “With my contract now concluded, I’m excited to explore new opportunities and possibilities as a wrestler, TV personality, and creative.”

Valkyrie debuted on AEW Dynamite in March 2023, confronting then-TBS Champion Jade Cargill. She challenged Cargill for the TBS Championship at Double or Nothing that May. Before AEW, she had a short run in WWE NXT. She is a former Impact Knockouts Champion and AAA Reina de Reinas Champion.

AEW has not commented on her departure.

We wish Taya Valkyrie the best in her next chapter.
