Cody Rhodes thinks The Rock has more matches left in him, but says whether they face each other one-on-one is up to Rock.
On Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, Rhodes was asked whether he was going to have a one-on-one match with The Rock after calling him out at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, in 2024.
“It’s not that I’m evading that answer. It’s that I don’t really know how to answer because I think personally he has a couple of matches probably left to do,” Rhodes said. “I think that personally, but I also know looking at WrestleMania 40 and another guy who he’s given all, continues to give all as part of the board. He could easily say that was a great final piece as a performer in a wrestling ring.”
“That’ll be up to him. That’ll certainly be up to him if there’s more and what those matches might be,” Rhodes continued. “I don’t think any wrestler would ever look you in the eye and tell you they wouldn’t want a match like that.”
The Rock has not wrestled since WrestleMania 40 in April 2024, when he and Roman Reigns beat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1. Rhodes beat Reigns the next night to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. The Rock joined the board of directors of WWE parent company TKO in January 2024.
At Elimination Chamber in March 2025, The Rock asked Rhodes to become his champion. Rhodes turned him down, and John Cena turned heel and attacked him.
Last month, Rhodes said he had wanted to sign his soul over to The Rock’s daughter, Simone Johnson, instead of The Rock.
Rhodes is currently feuding with Randy Orton on SmackDown.
