Jim Ross is home from the hospital and “on the mend,” his Grilling JR co-host Conrad Thompson said.
Ross missed this week’s episode of Grilling JR, and Thompson gave an update on his health on the show.
“I finally got an update on the ‘Voice of Wrestling,’ Mr. Jim Ross. As you all know, JR had to do a little outpatient visit recently. And it turns out that he got a bit of a chest cold, he’s got some sort of infection in his chest,” Thompson said. “They said that his oxygen was low, so he spent the night in the hospital, but I’m happy to report that he is home and on the mend.”
Thompson said doctors have not yet reconnected Ross’ shunt.
“They still haven’t gotten his shunt hooked back up yet, so we’re hoping for that sooner rather than later. But at the same time, we’re hoping he gets to feeling better. He’s just under the weather right now,” Thompson said. “As our pal Jim would say, ‘Hey man, if it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.’ But we’re hoping, knock on wood, that Good Ol’ JR will be back here next week.”
Ross posted on X on October 12 that he was back in the hospital due to low oxygen. Separately, his shunt was turned off earlier this month after a CT scan found bleeding, and he had surgery on October 7 to address it.
This week’s Grilling JR is a re-release of an episode on the Lethal Lottery from WCW Starrcade 1991. Ross, 74, last called an AEW show at Double or Nothing in May.
We wish Jim Ross a full recovery.
