Jesse Ventura Says It’s A ‘Disgrace’ For Donald Trump To Be In The WWE Hall Of Fame

During an interview on the Independent Americans podcast, former Minnesota Governor/WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura addressed his history with Donald Trump and expressed strong disapproval of Trump’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Ventura argued that Trump lacks the necessary qualifications for the honor and critiqued the circumstances surrounding his induction.

Ventura emphasized that Hall of Fame status should be reserved for those who endured the physical and professional rigors of the industry. He specifically highlighted his own workload as a benchmark for such an honor.

“Do you know how you get in the Hall of Fame? You do like what I had to do,” Ventura stated. “I wrestled 63 consecutive nights in a row without a day off. And there’s people that would destroy that. There’s guys that did more than that. But that’s how you get in the Hall of Fame”.

Ventura suggested that Trump’s induction was a transactional arrangement with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon rather than a recognition of professional achievement.

“Trump got in because he provided us two buildings—I think WrestleMania 5 and 6 or something—where he probably made millions off renting us his buildings to hold WrestleMania,” Ventura explained. “And for that, Vince McMahon puts him in the Hall of Fame. It’s a disgrace. I’ve almost resigned, gone public and said I’m resigning from the Hall of Fame because of Trump is in it”.

Critique of Trump’s Persona and “Playbook”

Beyond the Hall of Fame, Ventura accused Trump of appropriating his political strategy while lacking the military background or personal resilience often associated with a “tough guy” image. Ventura claimed that Trump’s 2016 campaign mirrored his own successful 1998 gubernatorial run in Minnesota.

“He copied my election, took my playbook totally,” Ventura said. “Except the difference was, I took on the Democrats and Republicans at the same time. What he did—and he was successful, so I can’t argue with him—he first conquered the Republicans. And the moment he conquered the Republicans, then he went after the Democrats and thus became the President”.

Ventura also challenged Trump’s perceived masculinity, referencing his avoidance of military service.

“I’ll bet Donald Trump has never been in a fight in his whole life. I mean, even as a kid,” Ventura remarked. “He’s the kind of guy in a group that will start the fight and then he’ll hold your coat… He never missed a golf game. You’d think if he had these horrible, painful [bone] spurs that would keep him from military service… and yet he could never go to boot camp”.

Political Stance and Hall of Fame Integrity

Ventura, who served as Governor of Minnesota as an independent from 1999 to 2003, characterized Trump as a “conman” and expressed concern over the state of American politics. He noted that his frustration with Trump’s inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame stems from a perceived lack of respect for genuine athletes like Olympian Ken Patera, who remain uninducted.

“He doesn’t qualify—like everything he does, he’s not qualified,” Ventura concluded.
