The U.S. State Department told Americans in the Middle East on Monday to exercise heightened vigilance, citing Houthi attacks on civilian airports in Saudi Arabia. WWE Crown Jewel is set for November 7 at Riyadh Season Stadium in Riyadh.
“Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the complex security environment. Be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions,” the State Department’s TravelGov account said on X.
“Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions. The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly beyond that immediate area.”

The department told Americans traveling to or from the region to monitor airport and airline operations and “develop contingency plans in advance.” It also warned that “Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.” Country-specific alerts are posted on the State Department’s Middle East travel page.
Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport reopened on Sunday after being closed following Houthi attacks, but many international airlines are still not flying there. The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh told Americans to avoid the airport after attacks on October 10.
As of this writing, WWE has not announced any change to Crown Jewel.
I went through everything on Crown Jewel and Saudi Arabia, including what Nick Khan has said, the reports on employees who don’t want to go and the backup plans, in my latest video on YouTube, embedded below.
