Stephanie Vaquer’s Illness Is “Nothing Terribly Serious,” No Timeline For Return

Stephanie Vaquer's illness is "nothing terribly serious," according to Dave Meltzer, though there is no set timeline for when she will be back.

Stephanie Vaquer’s illness is not believed to be serious, but there is no timeline yet for when she will be back, according to Dave Meltzer.

Vaquer missed Monday’s Raw at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, where she was scheduled to face Becky Lynch in the main event, with the winner becoming No. 1 contender to Liv Morgan’s Women’s World Championship. Lynch got the title match instead.

Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vaquer is out indefinitely, but not because of anything major.

“She’s ill. It’s not anything — I was told it’s nothing terribly serious or anything,” Meltzer said. “But she’s ill and she’s out. Indefinitely in the sense that it’s not like it’s a week. It’s something that’s indeterminate yet as far as when she’ll be back.”

He said the absence was not an injury or a storyline, and that it explains how the replacement match ended.

“But that’s why they didn’t do that match. It wasn’t about an injury, and it wasn’t a worked storyline. They were going to do the match on Monday night and she got sick and could not come. And that’s why they did the Becky Lynch-Liv Morgan,” Meltzer said. “And that’s why they did the DQ, because they didn’t want to beat Becky Lynch. But it wasn’t a match that they had planned, so they did the DQ that way — to get out of it essentially.”

Lynch beat Morgan by disqualification when Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez interfered, so Morgan kept the title. PWInsider reported after the show that Vaquer’s issue was believed to be illness-related rather than an injury.

Morgan won the Women’s World Championship from Vaquer in a triple threat match that also included Lynch at Money in the Bank on October 10 in New Orleans. WWE has not given an update on Vaquer’s status.

We wish Stephanie Vaquer a full and speedy recovery.
