AEW Fright Night Dynamite aired Wednesday, October 28, from Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz called the show. Here is how the night went, in order.

The Cut def. Death Riders

Jay White and David Finlay, whose group is now called The Cut, beat Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia. Near the finish, Ace Austin got on the apron and Wheeler Yuta took him out with a Busaiku Knee. With the referee distracted, Clark Connors speared Garcia, and White hit the Blade Runner on Garcia for the pin.

Both groups brawled after the match. Claudio Castagnoli gave Connors the Giant Swing, and the Death Riders cleared the ring with chairs. Moxley asked where The Cut was going, since the Death Riders were just getting started.

“If this is the game they want to play, then at Full Gearโ€ฆ Anarchy in the Arena!” Moxley said.

A video package then aired for next week’s women’s Blood and Guts match.

Kyle Fletcher def. Jack Perry

Don Callis joined commentary. Fletcher beat “Jungle” Jack Perry with a sheer drop brainbuster off the ropes. Perry got close with a running powerbomb and had Fletcher in the Snare Trap before Fletcher reached the ropes.

After the match, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle lifted Fletcher onto their shoulders. Fletcher said he had beaten Will Ospreay at Full Gear before and would do it again, called himself the uncrowned AEW World Champion and dared Ospreay to put the title on the line. Ospreay vs. Fletcher for the AEW World Championship was later made official for Full Gear.

Swerve Strickland’s Texas Death Match demand

Renee Paquette interviewed The New Level, Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed, about their Trios title rematch at Full Gear. Creed brought up Swerve Strickland’s push for a Texas Death Match, and Kingston said they didn’t hate the champions enough for that, but planned to leave Full Gear as Trios Champions.

Brody King and Hangman Adam Page came out. Page said he lost years of his life in a Texas Death Match with Strickland. Prince Nana then pointed to the screen, which showed Strickland standing over a bloodied Bandido and holding his mask.

“Give us the match I asked forโ€ฆ because I’m not gonna ask again,” Strickland said. The New Level said they had nothing to do with it, and King and Page ran to the back.

Backstage, Callis and his group talked up their Full Gear plans. Callis said Steven Borden should be listening to him instead of Darby Allin.

Motor City Machine Guns def. FTR (Match 3)

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin beat Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler in the third match of their best-of-five series, and now lead 2-1. Shelley turned a Wheeler suplex into Harwood and rolled Harwood up for the pin. Stokely Hathaway was at ringside dressed as James Brown.

The teams shook hands after the match, then Hathaway threw powder in the Guns’ faces and FTR attacked. Wheeler stomped on Shelley’s knee from the middle rope while Harwood held it.

Tommaso Ciampa and Ilja Dragunov

Tommaso Ciampa said Andrade El Idolo cheated him out of the AEW National Championship at WrestleDream, which is why he went after the referee last week. He said he faces Matt Sydal on Collision and wants his rematch.

Ilja Dragunov interrupted and said that since Ciampa’s match was on Saturday, he was free to fight tonight.

“Not tonight, jackass,” Ciampa said, and left the ring.

Backstage, Roderick Strong, with Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly, challenged any three members of The Cut for Collision. The Gunns and Juice Robinson vs. The Conglomeration was made for Fright Night Collision.

Marina Shafir def. Rachel Armstrong

Moxley joined commentary. Shafir won in under two minutes with Mother’s Milk, then called out Mercedes Monรฉ. Monรฉ came out and slapped Shafir twice, as Shafir held her hands behind her back.

The Cut then attacked Moxley at the commentary desk. Castagnoli fought off several members, but Finlay took him out with the shillelagh. The Cut pulled up the mats at ringside, and White hit Moxley with the Blade Runner on the concrete floor.

TNT Championship: Darby Allin (c) def. Josh Alexander

Alexander attacked before the bell. He later hit a leaping piledriver off the apron onto two chairs on the floor, but only got a two count.

Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta came to ringside, and a fan in a clown mask stopped them. He took off the mask, and it was Steven Borden. Alexander went for the ankle lock, but Allin rolled backward into a pin to retain the TNT Championship.

Backstage, Borden spoke to Callis, said he knows what is at stake and listed his Blood and Guts team: Adam Copeland, Will Ospreay, the Young Bucks and Allin.

TBS Championship: Queen Aminata def. Persephone (c)

Britt Baker was in Persephone’s corner and hit Aminata with the title belt while the referee checked on Persephone. Persephone followed with a moonsault press for two. Aminata came back with a headbutt and Off With Her Head to win the TBS Championship.

Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa, Harley Cameron, Kris Statlander, Mina Shirakawa and other members of the women’s roster joined Aminata in the ring to celebrate as the show went off the air.

What’s next

As of this writing, next week’s Dynamite in Jacksonville, Florida, has the women’s Blood and Guts match: the Triangle of Madness and Divine Dominion vs. AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions the Brawling Birds, Wrathlander and Willow Nightingale.

AEW Full Gear is Saturday, November 14 at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Announced so far:

  • AEW World Championship: Will Ospreay (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher
  • Anarchy in the Arena: Death Riders vs. The Cut
  • AEW World Trios Championship: Bandido, Brody King and Hangman Adam Page (c) vs. Swerve Strickland and The New Level (stipulation not set; Strickland wants a Texas Death Match)
