McIntyre has not appeared on WWE television since night one of WrestleMania 42 on April 18, when Jacob Fatu defeated him in an unsanctioned match, pinning him after a moonsault through a table.
He has spent much of that time filming. McIntyre was cast as Angus MacLeod, chieftain of Clan MacLeod, in the Highlander reboot, which began production in January. He joined the cast of The Last Druid in June.
On September 25, McIntyre shared a video of himself back in the ring at Rusev’s Kech Pro Wrestling Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. He did not address his WWE status at the time.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on Friday that McIntyre is expected back on WWE programming soon, with most of his acting commitments completed. No return date has been reported.
