Eric Young is working for WWE NXT as a producer, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
Johnson said Young has been with WWE since July. He said he was not sure about Young’s in-ring future.
How Eric Young Got Back To WWE
TNA announced on July 1 that it had “come to terms on the release of Eric Young, effective immediately.” Young posted that night that he had asked to leave.
“I asked for my release! They granted it!” Young wrote. He added that he “was never on a handshake deal.”
Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio in early July that Young was expected to work as a player/coach in NXT, a role like the one Shawn Spears had there. “Player/coach in NXT is the current plan for him,” Meltzer said, adding that he had heard September for the timing but was not sure that was right.
His Final TNA Run
Young was booked against Ricky Sosa at Slammiversary on June 28 in Boston, days before TNA released him. He won the annual Feast or Fired match in January, earning a TNA X Division Championship opportunity.
In 2025, Young turned on Josh Alexander to take over The Northern Armory, then beat Alexander in Alexander’s farewell match in February. He broke up The Northern Armory in September 2025 by attacking Judas Icarus and Travis Williams, and later that month took part in TNA’s invasion storyline on NXT.
Eric Young’s Career
Young debuted for TNA as a member of Team Canada in 2004 and stayed with the company until he signed with WWE in 2016. In NXT, he led SAnitY and won the NXT Tag Team Championship with Alexander Wolfe in August 2017, holding the titles until December.
WWE released Young on April 15, 2020. He re-signed with WWE in 2022 but left without appearing on TV, and returned to TNA, then known as Impact Wrestling, at Slammiversary 2023.
Young is a two-time world champion in TNA. He won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Magnus in April 2014 and the Impact World Championship from Eddie Edwards in 2020. He also held the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship with ODB for a record 478 days.
Young is 46.
