Chris Jericho Says TV Series Based On A Lion’s Tale Is Getting “Pretty Close To Filming A Pilot”

Chris Jericho says a television series based on his first book, A Lion’s Tale, is getting close to the pilot stage.

Jericho told Skratch N’ Sniff that the project has been in the works for a while, and that an actor from the Canadian comedy series Letterkenny is in line to play a young Jericho. He was asked about the possibility of his life story becoming a movie, like the Mildred Burke biopic Queen of the Ring.

“We are actually working on something based on my first book, A Lion’s Tale, that we’ve been working on for a while, of doing a TV series based on that,” Jericho said. “And so we’ve kind of moved it up the food chain, and it’s getting pretty close to filming a pilot, and we do have an actor that is very similar to me when I was first starting out that was from the Letterkenny series, if you ever watch that show.”

“So yeah, I mean there might be something very, very soon of not just an autobiography because that’s not enough because I’m, you know, Chris Jericho, right? I always have to push the envelope that we might have a whole actual TV series about kind of the early years of my career which would be a lot of fun,” he continued.

“So that’s something we’re working on and we’re getting, you know, we’re moving to the pilot stage fairly, fairly soon.”

Jericho would not name the actor. “I won’t say who it is in Letterkenny, but there is a real facial similarity,” he said.

No network, streamer or production company has been announced for the series.

A Lion’s Tale: Around the World in Spandex was released in 2007 and covers Jericho’s early life and the start of his wrestling career, up to his WWE debut in 1999. It was the first of his four books, followed by Undisputed: How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps in 2011, The Best in the World: At What I Have No Idea in 2014 and No Is a Four-Letter Word in 2017.

Jericho, the first AEW World Champion, returned to the company on the April 1 episode of Dynamite in Winnipeg. AEW will hold an episode of Collision aboard his Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise next month.
